Signing up as a Volunteer for the Sanctuary at Shambhala 2008

All Shambhala volunteer stuff is handled online through the Shambhala staff and volunteer management website.

If you want to volunteer for the Sanctuary harm reduction and safe space, and you haven't already done this, then you need to fill out the special online volunteer application available here, which will then come to us for review. DO NOT FILL OUT THE REGULAR SHAMBHALA VOLUNTEER APPLICATION - use the special one linked here only. Thanks.

If you are accepted as a volunteer then you will get a confirmation code which you give to the gate when you arrive in order to get in to the event for free. The confirmation code *is* your ticket number.

We are asking that volunteers commit to a minimum of two 8-hour shifts at the Sanctuary - one shift will be at a good time and one will probably be at a "less desirable" time. When we do the scheduling we will ask you to send us your shift time preferences and also black-out times when you know you will not be available (coz of the shows you want to catch). We will do our best to give you at least one of your preferred shifts and to avoid scheduling you during your blackout periods if at all possible.

If you volunteer for us you will also get an extra free ticket to give to your favourite party companion or loved one or friend - note that this extra ticket is worth $185 plus taxes at the current ticket price (as of 15 June). This will be a physical ticket we will give to you shortly before the event. We will also provide one meal ticket for you to use on one of your shifts too - this can be exchanged for food at any of the vendors in City Centre.

Meredith & Charles (Rhino)'s shift preferences

We will be arriving onsite late on Tuesday night and will be there until the following Tuesday. We can work 2 shifts each and will be attending the Thursday meeting. Our preference is to work our shifts together, as we would like to spend the max. possible amount of time partying together when not on shift. I haven't filled out the Sham form yet, because it says my log-on is pending. Hopefully, I'll get it working later today.

Our top picks are:

Good shifts:
1) #10 Sun 1-9pm
2)#1 Thurs 2-10 pm
3) #3 Friday 12-8 pm

Not-so-groovy shifts:
1)#2 Thurs 9pm-5am
2) #8 Sat 11pm-7am
3)#5 Sat 2am-10am

Our blackout times are: Bassnectar show @12:30 am on Sunday night (or early Monday morning...however you wanna look at it) and Adham Shaikh show @ 11pm Sunday-2am Monday. These are the two acts we are going to see, so we'd really like to make it to those. Anything else is fair game!

Can't wait to party with all of you! See you soon!
