If you would like to volunteer to help out at "The Sanctuary" at Shambhala 2008 then this page has all the info you need to get started.

What is involved in volunteering?

We are asking volunteers for "The Sanctuary" to commit to two 8-hour shifts - one will be at a good time and one is likely to be at a less fabulous time (i.e. going through the early hours of the morning).

How do I sign up?

Our crew is official Shambhala staff and we use their online staff system to manage volunteer applications. If you would like to volunteer for us then please fill out the online volunteer application. You 'must' fill out an online application if you want to become a volunteer otherwise you will not be able to get the free entry to the festival.
DO NOT USE THE REGULAR SHAMBHALA VOLUNTEER SIGN UP FORM - Only use the special form linked above which is specifically for us folks doing harm reduction. Thanks.

What do I get?

You will get a free ticket worth $185+tax to come to the festival for yourself - when your volunteer application is approved by the festival organisers you will get a confirmation number to show to the people at the gate. They will use this number to look you up in the database when you arrive.

You will also get a second free ticket to give to a friend or use as you please. This will be *not* be a physical ticket but will be done electronically. Guest names will be on a list at the Shambhala gate and they will be able to pick up their wristbands on arrival at the gate. Guests need to identify themselves to the Shambhala gate folks as a guest of a Sanctuary volunteer.

Finally, you will get a Shambhala staff T-shirt, one meal ticket to use during one of your shifts, and more props and gratitude than you can imagine!! We do great work there and people love us and let us know....frequently...so this work is really great for your soul and self-esteem too :)

When will my shifts be?

As already mentioned, one of your shifts will be at a good time and one is likely to be at a less good time. We ask people to state their first 3 or 4 shift preferences. We will also ask you to list your "blackout" times when you will not be available because there is a performance you want to see.

We will do our best to schedule folks in one of their top preference shifts and we will make sure not to schedule you during one of your stated blackout periods.

What about training?

If you have already worked with us or done a training then you don't have to do a training again if you don't want to. For those who have not worked with us before we will be arranging a training for some time around the last two weeks of July. Contact us if you have any training related questions.
